Black Canary Biel... The drool just sort of starts flowing at the thought... Problem with her, she doesn't want to be typecast as action grrl. Gale looks great, but I think Fox can get that regal aura WW should have. Again - she also should hit the gym, as she's starting to show Holywood stick figure-symptoms. You got me going, here - I'm posting a re-working of my Megan Fox Wonder Woman, might still convince the JL movie people!
You deserve it. Nothing bugs me more than when I see some prissy lean actress wanting to play Wonder Woman.
They've cancelled the movie but personally I think if they want it to be of any realistic class or value the way Batman Begins was they need to cast a woman that actually LOOKS like Wonder Woman. You wanna get a known actress fine, but make her look the part. They have male action leads bulk up for roles, a actress should be expected to do the same. No one playing a warrior-born amazon princess should weigh under 200 pounds, and NONE of that weight should be flab.
While I would agree that someone who can lift a tank should have the muscles for it, we know it's not realistic to expect this in a mainstreeam movie. The same way they don't use a body-builder to play Superman, they wouldn't (and shouldn't) use one for WW. Most people find women body-builders - for whatever reason - upsetting (see Piratestan above), and you can't expect someone to put a hundred mill into a movie and cast someone who will turn most people away. The real problem for me is when they cast some Joss Weadon-type waif. I would love to see someone like Megan Fox, buffed up a bit (Jessica Biel level). Or, better still - why not Biel herself? Me and you - we got us the fantasy drawings, for now. And patiance. Perceptions of beauty are constantly evolving. Who knows? Holywood's mega-babe of the next decade might be walking into her first gym as I write this...
Oh I quite agree, a body builder level is to much but come on, give us a Biel, a Jolie or, preferably someone on par with Lucy Lawless, the only woman so far to succesfully and believably play a 'warrior princess' role.
I don't think I actually want Biel to play the part, she's got the body but she was already considered for the role and both the fans (who went into uproar) and she herself decided she wasn't right f or it. She said in a press release that after studying the character more she just didn't think she could pull off the role right. I agree with that.
I just don't think she could pull of the dignified royal ambassador side of Diana. I think she'd make a great Black Canary or Huntress though and I'd LOVE to see her get cast as one of those two! Don't even get me started on the whole Joss Whedon thing, I was scared enough when I found out he was the first director for the original WW movie... It was sure to be a good movie but likely have little or nothing to do with the Wonder Woman fans know and love.
I'm not picky, I just want someone who looks the part. If the Justice League movie ever actually gets made I'll be pleased. Megan Gale may not look like much of a warrior but she's no stick thin LA girl, she's tall and she's got the good looks the role demand. They wouldn't even have to dye her hair black!
