Rough sailing

Description

I'm hazarding a guess this is not was Christopher Cross had in mind when writing his inane easy-listening hit. And I'm guessing Rod Stewart would have chosen a more, er, streamlined (and 15 years younger) companion for his sailing adventures.

But, there it is.

A double-purpose exercise:
* new coloring technique (see WIP for details)
* try and create something with a bit of "real" background (the bane of my existance)

Also tried to do a face that is a bit less of a conventional beauty than I'm always doing. Might have been TOO successfull with this...

The sea is pasted on (hey, baby steps! I'll get there!)

EDIT: gave up, changed the face. Now it's Pippi Longstocking, setting out to look for her dad (or something). Full-size is 1800x1800 pixels

EDIT: Pippi Longstocking - OUT! Conventional Beauty - BACK, baby!

A wonderful example of female muscle artwork, and a fine addition to the community. I love the coloring; you've chosen shades and tones that really fit together, and I can see the "real woman" in this picture coordinating her appearance in much the same fashion. I don't like the fingernails and toenails being different colors, but that's just personal preference; it works well in this picture.

Despite the pasted-in water (which I only bring up because you did), the background and scenery definitely has a real feeling to it. I can just picture the well-off entrepreneur/fitness enthusiast taking a relaxing sail after her Olympia debut.

Her physique is very well sculpted. I've been trying, and failing, to find a misplaced/fake muscle; that level of realism is something of which I'm a fan. The level of musculature and vascularity is also remarkable in its realism; I can again picture the "real woman" instead of a pure fantasy. Also, I love the level of detail in her hair.

I do believe, though I can't look back and see, that I liked the first face better; I'm not sure what I dislike about this one, but there's something about it I don't fancy. However, it certainly doesn't detract from the rest of the picture, just makes it lack a little. Also...I think she only has eight toes.

Overall, it's a tremendous image, and I'm glad you created it for us. I especially like the coloring, even more due to it being a new technique for you. 4.25/5 stars.
